Different schools now, but it never quite mattered. Eva is a phone call, a sleepover, a shared playlist away — practically joined at the hip from day one. The primary-school crew is still the core; new chapters take time to find their people, and that's alright. The right ones are out there, and Katie has never been short on patience for what matters.
Plus, of course — Grandma. Who is overseas, and who somehow still hears about everything first.

Maroon for Origin. Brisbane every other week of the year. A wardrobe drawer that is, if we're honest, mostly jerseys. Rugby on the school field, netball on Saturdays, and the kind of straight-line determination that makes coaches grin.
